Randall Scott MacDonald: Bio
BIOGRAPHY
Edmonton’s versatile and talented Randall MacDonald enjoys working in all creative forms – stage, singing, acting, writing, decorating and event planning. His older brother told his parents when he was only four years old to “get that kid on the stage!” The rest is history.
Randall’s school years were busy performing and singing. After high school he focused on a business degree at the University of Alberta, but after graduating, the call to the stage returned. Favourite stage roles include Harold Corringe in Black Comedy, Manolo Costazuela in The Odd Couple, Nathan Detroit in Guys and Dolls, The Tinman in The Wiz, Marcel in Breeder as well as, various parts in musical reviews. Several newspaper reviews declared: “It was worth seeing the show for MacDonald’s performance.”
Randall’s artistic expression merges well with his love of entertaining. Many of his elaborate functions and events offering distinctive experiences, have received rave reviews by attendees and the press. His innate talent for producing extraordinary events are featured in his own TV spots on entertaining on City TV in both Vancouver and Edmonton.
In 1996 Randall started an interior design company, working on office buildings, show homes, condominium common areas and private homes. He continues to enjoy the challenge of special and exclusive projects. His home and imaginative flair for design was recently featured in a lifestyle magazine.
In 2004 Randall started performing with the Edmonton Opera appearing in many productions including South Pacific, Lakeme and La Boheme. He had the great privilege to receive a featured role in the world stage premiere of “Filumenia”, the story of the last woman to be executed in Alberta. The production was filmed and broadcast nationally.
Also in 2004, he started working as a jazz headliner in the main rooms in Edmonton. A veteran of musical theatre, Randall honed his musical talents on stage. His theatrical experiences have influenced his vocal style, giving a new twist to some old favourites. Singing theatre and jazz standards, Randall’s style is reminiscent of a bygone era and he has been characterized as a young Tony Bennett. He has recorded many tunes over the course of his career and is currently in the studio working on his debut album.
About this time as well, Randall began receiving roles for film and television. He was soon seen in TV commercials, training films and made for TV movies including Christmas Blessings. Most recently you may have seen Randall as the flamboyant Mr. Dawidziak in the National TV series Mixed Blessings to which he received great reviews.
Randall’s latest venture is writing articles about living a lavish lifestyle recapping some of his incredible five-star adventures around the world such as attending 18th Century Masked balls at the world famous Carnivale in Venice.
In 2009, he and his partner expanded their retail business, Call the Kettle Black, adding three stores in Vancouver to the two in Edmonton.
The world is a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death. In Randall’s world, there is never a dull moment and that’s the way he likes it!
